The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) confirmed on Thursday, December 4, 2014 that the tropical cyclone Hagupit entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as Bagyong Ruby. PAGASA also released an hourly update of the tropical cyclone’s location as it is forecasts to move towards the eastern portion of the Visayas.

- December 5, 2014 @ 5:00 AM – Hagupit is at 485 km East of Borongan, Eastern Samar
- December 5, 2014 @ 3:00 AM – Hagupit is at 490 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar
- December 5, 2014 @ 1:00 PM – Hagupit is at 525 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar
- December 4, 2014 @ 11:00 PM – Hagupit is at 560 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar
- December 4, 2014 @ 4:00 PM – Hagupit is at 720 km East of Surigao City, Winds of 205 kph and gustiness of up to 240 kph. To move West Northwest at 15 kph.
- December 4, 2014 @ 10:00 AM – Hagupit is at 860 km East of Surigao City, Winds of 195 kph and gustiness of up to 230 kph. To move West Northwest at 20 kph.

According to PAGASA typhoon “Hagupit” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at around 3:00 AM on Thursday, December 4, 2014. The weather disturbance was last spotted at 942 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 1,023 km east of Surigao City.
Bagyong Hagupit (Ruby) is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph, it is forecast to move west northwest at 25 kph.
