The Philippine national football team, the Azkals is now calling the support of the Filipinos on their upcoming semi-final duel against the undefeated Thailand national football team in the AFF Suzuki Cup. The Philippines will play against Thailand in the first leg of the semi-finals at the historic Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
The Philippine Azkals successfully made it to semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup for the third straight time, since they made the historic upset against Vietnam in the 2010 edition of the game.
According to Azkals team manager Dan Palami, the home-crowd support will be a big boost the squad, which will try to end a 14-game winless drought against Southeast Asian powerhouse team, Thailand, and secured the country’s first-ever finals appearance.
Dan Palami added further that the Azkals will try to take every advantage in the first leg of the semi-finals and the crowd support is really vital for the win. He was quoted as saying “We want to take every advantage that we have in the semifinals and one of that is crowd support,” said Palami. “Let’s show them that the Filipino fans can also be a factor in the games,” Palami stated.
The Philippine crowds was at its best during the home games of the Philippine Azkals two years ago, after the Filipinos came out to support the team in the World Cup Qualifying games against Kuwait and Sri Lanka last 2011 featuring a packed Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Azkals vs. Thailand Semi-finals game will be held this coming December 6, 2014 for the first leg, while the second leg will be held on December 10, 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand.
