House Minority Leader Ronaldo Zamora skips on signing the impeachment complaint filed against President Benigno Aquino III. It is due to the fact that he has his scheduled operation for his failing kidneys.
Zamora intends to deliver a rebuttal speech on the President’s State of the Nation Address this Monday, July 28, 2014. However, he can’t do it anymore.
On the other hand, Zamora told the reporters that because of his failing kidneys, he hurriedly look for possible donors. His operation is scheduled on August 19, 2014.
“I’m going through surgery. It will take me out for a month. I have a date. With my surgeons, it will be next month. That’s when everything come out for impeachment, budget, Bangsamoro. These are things I don’t want to miss,” he said.
It is also said that the kidney operation of Zamora is just a partly reason why he won’t be supporting the impeachment complaint filed by colleagues anymore.
According to him, the impeachment cases distracts them on what is supposed to be given attention first.
In addition, he said that their attention should be focused on holding all those accountable people for the misuse of public funds.
“I have a personal problem. I will be absent from the House. I don’t want to be just signing an impeachment complaint forgetting I should be paying real attention to that. These are important reasons. My colleagues feel differently. Let’s see how the President or chosen defenders will defend himself,” he said.
With his decision, Zamora is still confident that his colleagues wont be falling apart due to this. He will prove it in the budget debates.
