2015 List of Official Holidays Released by Malacanang

The Philippine National government through their official website released on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, the list of official holidays for the year 2015. Philippine President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III signed Proclamation No. 831 announcing the list of Regular and Special Holidays nationwide.

Philippine Holidays

Based upon the newly declared holidays, Filipinos will enjoy a total of eight long weekends for the year 2015. The list of official holidays for next year was released a few more months before the year 2014 ends.

Based upon Proclamation No. 831, a total of 18 holidays with determined dates were released to the public. The proclamation was approved by Pres. Aquino last July 17, 2014.

List of Holidays 2015

The Filipino-Chinese and Chinese communities in the Philippines will celebrate the Chinese New Year holiday on February 19, 2014. According to the President the proclamation of Chinese New Year as a Special Non-Working Holiday is “one of the most revered and festive events” celebrated not only in China but also in the Philippines.

The President also added that it is fitting to declare January 2 and December 24 as additional special non-working days to “foster closer family ties and enable our countrymen to observe Christmas more meaningfully.”

Meanwhile the declaration of the of national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha shall be issued in accordance with the Islamic calendar.
