Flashfloods Hits Five Towns of Maguindanao (June 16, 2014)

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) confirmed on Monday, June 6, 2014 that a total of five towns in Maguindanao was hit by flashfloods due to heavy rains. The flashfloods in Maguindanao damaged crops in the towns it affected.

According to the latest report by the NDRRMC the floods inundated teh municipalities of Mamasapano, Shariff Saydona, Datu Piang, Mother Kabuntalan, and Datu Salibo as early as Friday, June 13, 2014.

Based upon the report of the NDRMMC, “Flood water in some areas immediately subsided, no casualties and evacuation of residents were reported but damage to agricultural crops were noted.” the report stated.

The authorities are still (–foul word(s) removed–)sing the amount of crops damaged by the floods that hits Maguindanao. Residents along the riverbanks in Datu Piang and Mother Kabuntalan were already warned on the rise of water along Rio Grande de Maguindanao since last week.

The areas affected particularly the local disaster management units are continuously monitoring the situation in the affected areas in Maguindanao. The DSWD in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao noted that food packs are ready for distribution in areas affected by flooding are ready if they are needed.
