The 86th Academy Awards hosted by world-renowned host Ellen DeGeneres on March 2, 2014 (March 3 PST) featured some of the world’s most famous celebrities under one roof to acknowledge the best in the United States movie industry.

The Fil-Am composer Robert Lopez was just one of the few individual who were recognized during the prestigious event. Robert Lopez won in the Best Original Song category for “Let I Go” as featured on the movie “Frozen.”

“Let It Go” was able to beat “Happy” from Dispecable Me 2, “The Moon Song” from the movie “Her” and the song “Ordinary Love” from the historical biopic movie “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”

According to Hollywood-based reporter Ruben V. Nepales, the Fil-Am Oscar Lopez is the first Filipino-American to win an Oscar awards in the 86th history of the prestigious award-giving body. The father of Robert Lopez is part-Filipino, his grandfather was pure Filipino, while his grandmother was part-Filipino and part Scottish-American.

Robert Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson honored their fellow nominees and thanked all those who inspired them in writing the song “Let It Go.” The husband and wife tandem also mention their inspiration, their lovely daughters, Katie and Annie.

The song “Let It Go” was also named previously as Best Original Song during the awarding ceremony of the Critics’ Choice Awards aside from being nominated in the Golden Globes last January 2014.
