The Canadian Welding Bureau announced through a news report posted on ABS-CBN that thousands of new jobs for skilled Pinoy welders are currently available in Canada particularly in British Columbia.

The job vacancies for Pinoy welders in Canada are needed after the Canadian Federal government gave the Vancouver Shipyards the $3.3 billion contract to build 10 new non-combat ships for the Canadian Coast Guard.
The accredited test centers in the Philippines by Canadian Welding Bureau are anticipating a possible shortage of qualified tradesmen that includes jobs in welding and pipe-fitting.
According to Bob Montes, certification services representative of the Canadian Welding Bureau, the welders they are currently training are not sufficient to meet the demands.
He was quoted as saying “The welders that we are training in Canada right now are not sufficient to fill that vacuum that’s why the Canadian government is looking of hiring temporary workers from outside, and right now, the Philippines is a very favorable place to hire the welders,” Bob Montes said.
The Canadian Welding Bureau also added that welders will also be in big demand when construction for the pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia begins. Filipinos are known to have a natural skill for welding which is seen as a huge plus over the other nationalities.
The skilled welder that will be deployed in Canada can earn from 50 Canadian dollars (around P2,000) plus per hour. The Canadian Welding Bureau announced that only three centers are accredited by the bureau.
