Netizens Blasted NAIA’s Lack of CCTV Cameras

Filipino netizens aired their sentiments through various social networking sites in the inadequate security at the Ninoy Aquino Internation Airport (NAIA) right after an incident that took place on Friday, December 20, 2013.

Social media outlet such as Twitter and Facebook were flooded with angry reactions from netizens as they vented their ire on the security lapses of NAIA, the nation’s gateway to the world, where a shooting incident happened.

Facebook and Twitter users questioned the capability of NAIA and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to ensure the safety of airport p(–foul word(s) removed–)engers and the Filipino public.

Netizens slammed the absence of security cameras in the crime scene as confirmed by an airport official who stated that there were no CCTV cameras installed outside NAIA Terminal 3.

The victims of the Friday incident were Mayor Ukol Talampa of Labangan, Zamboanga de Sur, his wife, the Mayor’s accompany and an 18-month old child, who were killed by two motorcycle-riding gunmen who shot them at close range.

Netizens got angry also right after a video of Mar Roxas surfaced, promising during the year 2012 that CCTV cameras will be installed at NAIA in 2013.
