Pau Gasol of LA Lakers Pledges $1000 Per Points for Yolanda Victims

Spanish international and LA Lakers superstar Pau Gasol made headlines anew in the Philippines as he made a pledge for the relief efforts in the country affected by super typhoon Yolanda. Gasol is pledging $1,000 to UNICEF for every point that will score in the Laker’s game against the Golden State Warriors this weekend.

The 33-year-old Pau Gasol also invited his fans to pledge for his UNICEF fund raising campaign, the Lakers superstar also posted on his official Twitter account about his pledge and encourage his followers to do their share in helping the Philippines.

Some of Pau Gasol’s followers have already stepped up and made their own pledges for the benefits of the typhoon victims. Pau Gasol is a UNICEF Amb(–foul word(s) removed–)ador and won the NBA’s Citizenship Award in 2012. He was previously known as one of the donors of relief efforts in Haiti and Japan.

Pau Gasol is averaging 13.0 points per game this season, aside from Gasol the Lakers have already donated $150,000 to the typhoon relief efforts, while the NBA has donated a combined $500,000 – $250,000 to UNICEF and another $250,000 to World Vision.
