The local inhabitants of Bantayan Island were more popularly known because of their unique celebration of the Holy Week. Bantayan Island was also dubbed as the “Lenten Capital of the Visayas.”

The mall exhibit featuring Bantayan Island revealed some of the tourist attraction in the island such as the beaches, namely; Kota Beach, Sta. Fe Beach Club, Ogtong Beach and Cave, Maia’s Beach Resort and much more.

As a local Bantayanon, I personally visited the exhibit at Robinsons Place Bacolod City. I was so proud upon learning personally that my birthplace’ tourist attraction, the Obo-ob Mangrove Garden Integrated Ecotourism and Conservation (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation (OMAGIECA) was also featured.

Brochures about Bantayan Island and postcards were distributed for free by the organizer of the event Miss Mae Ann Abello, the daughter of Mr. Arnold Abello, member of the Abello clans, one of the most respected family in Bantayan Island.
