Nonito Donaire: 2012 Ring Magazine’s Fighter of the Year

“The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire Jr. was being voted as the RING Magazine’s 2012 Fighter of the Year after his impressive four wins this year. He was also voted earlier as the ESPN’s Boxer of the Year a few days ago.

Donaire is one of the most popular boxer in the world today after his four-division world title’s conquest. He ranked among the top 10 pound-for-pound king in world.

According to RingTV.com’s year end poll, Nonito Donaire (31-1, 20 KO’s) garnered a total of 55.2% votes to capture a landslide win over his closest competitor to the title, Juan Manuel Marquez, who received with 27.3% votes.

The 30-year-old Nonito Donaire fought four times in the year 2012 and in the process of established himself as the best 122-pound fighter in the world. Donaire also received a commendation from ESPN’s Dan Rafael for being the only high-profile professional boxer who is willing to commit to comprehensive year-round drug testing conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation (VADA).
