John Echauz: Filipino Inventor of Floody Carbag

John Echauz, one of the few Filipinos who used his ingenuity for the benefit of the people especially for those who have been victims of the recent flooding in Metro Manila. John Echauz, an executive at a car insurance company has developed Floody Carbag, a product that aims to keep parked vehicles safe from floods.

According to Echauz, the inspiration for the Floody Carbag came from the waterproof beach bag. During an interview with ANC’s “Shop Talk,” Echauz was quoted as saying that “You just drive your car in and then you close the zipper on top, then you close the mouth.” he said.

Echauz adds further that, “There’s a Velco strip on the mouth but that’s not what keeps the car waterproof. You fold the mouth 3 times, you roll it up, then you clasp it over the hood. The folds are actually what keep water from seeping in.” Echauz stated.

The Floody Carbag, developed by John Echauz was made from high-grade industrial plastic, that is transparent, highly-engineered product and both waterproof and puncture resistant.

Current production of the product were available in two sizes, one for sedan-type vehicle that is worth (Php. 9,950.00) while the other one is for medium-sized SUVs that is worth (Php. 14,950).

According to Echauz, the company producing the flood carbag have already received numerous orders from different clients and some of them even came from outside the country.

The Ondoy problem was the main reason why John Echauz have come up with the production of the Floody Carbag. He was once a victim of Ondoy, so the industrial engineering graduate from De La Salle University (DLSU) made a solution by developing the product.

Accoring to John Echauz, they have successfully tested different prototypes of the products to ensure it’s quality and viability. This is another achievement from a Filipino achiever.
