The Philippine Azkals managed to steal a scoreless draw against the Malaysian Tigers in a game which proved further that the Philippine National Football Team is one of contenders in Southeast Asia.
The Azkals have an early advantage especially in the first two minutes when the Malaysian defense failed to guard Stephan Schrock towards the net but the Fil-German failed to convert.
The Malaysian have also their chances especially with veteran striker Safi Saleh who was the most vicious attacker from the reigning AFF Suzuki Cup Champion. The Philippine Azkals failed to score on some rare chances especially the back to back scoring chances by Denis Wolf in the 31st and 32nd minutes of the game in which he failed to score.
Most possessions of the second half were controlled by the Malaysians with plenty of scoring chances to the delight of the home crowd at the Shah Alam Stadium in Selangor, Malaysia.
The Malaysian National Football Team were able to shoot on target with a total of 4 out of 12 while the Philippines shot a dismal 2 out of 3 on target.
The Philippine Azkals next international matches will be held in the Philippines against Indonesia and Guam respectively. All games were sanctioned by FIFA, therefore it could affect on their current standings.
