Another victorious win for the Filipinos after beauty queen Gwendoline Ruais finishes as first runner-up in the recently held Miss World Pageant in London.

With regards to that, Malacañang has expressed their happiness and congratulates the representative of the Philippines, Ms. Gwendoline Ruais for bringing honor to the country and proving to the World that Filipinos can outshine others in the world stage.

In behalf of the Aquino government, Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda has extended their congratulatory message to Ms. Ruais and has acknowledged the effort that Ms. Philippines has placed to win in the pageant.

This is again the first time that the Philippines have made it to the top of Miss World since its last win in the year 1973 by Evangeline Pascual who also placed first runner-up during her time.

Taking home the crow as the 2011 Miss World is Ms. Ivian Sarcos from Venezuela followed by Ms. Philippines Gwendoline Ruais as first runner-up and Amanda Victoria Vilanova Perez as the second runner-up from Puerto Rico.

According to reports, Philippines and Venezuela had a close fight for the crown but Ms. Ivian Sarcos lead a small point against Ruais.

After the contest, Ms. Ruais has extended her thanks to those Filipino people in London who came and supported her during the pageant.

In her interview, she said that she is now relieved that at least she brought an honor to the country and she hopes that Filipinos will be proud for her achievement.

Miss World 2011 was held at Earls Courts in London last Sunday.
