
Miss Gwendoline Ruais won the first runner-up for the recently concluded 2011 Miss World Pageant held in London. The Miss World Beauty pageant is United Kingdom’s counterpart against the Miss Universe of the United States. The winner of the 2011 Miss World goes to Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos.
The achievement of Miss Gwendoline Ruais added another honor to the Philippines which is considered as one of the top contenders in any pageant worldwide. She duplicated the achievement made by fellow Filipina, Evangeline Pascual during the 1973 edition of the Miss World as first runner-up as well.
Miss Amanda Perez of from Puerto Rico was adjudged as the second-runner up of one of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world. The pageant was held at the Earls Court Two auditorium in west London.
The newly-crowned runner-up of the 2011 Miss World stands at 5’11” ½ tall is a meztiza having both Filipino and French blood. She hailed from Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila and started joining beauty contests at an early age of 12.
