The former President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband Mike Arroyo can be put into prison without bail.
The Commission on Election (Comelec) and Department of Justice are joining effort to investigate the case about irregularities during 2007 election.
The former first gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo would be also under proceedings of electoral sabotage if proven by the joint panel. The “electoral sabotage” is punishable by life imprisonment and it is a nonbailable case.
According to the report of Philippine Inquirer, the government has now in custody of Norie Unas former Maguindanao Administrator of Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr. that would be the strong new witness against Arroyos and to testify the anomaly of the 2007 election.
Unas bears the testimony claiming that soon before the 2007 elections, former President Arroyo ordered his boss to ensure the election result to come out with a 12-0 in favor to the administration candidates not considering whether committing fraud during the elections.
Later he and Ampatuan went to the office of the former first gentleman Arroyo and there he heard of the two exchanging ideas about how the cheating operation will take place during elections.
Sixto Brillantes chairman of the Comelec said that Gloria Arroyo and her husband maybe charge of electoral sabotage. And the claim of the new witness that there is an irregularity during 2007 elections was strengthened by the admission of the 15 election officers in Maguindanao.
Brillantes suggest to the Comelec lawyers to get more information from the detained Lintang Bedol who is the former Election Supervisor during the 2007 elections.
