Google the number 1 website in the internet has paid $500-million (£306-million) fine for allowing online adverts of illegal drugs from Canadian pharmacies intending to sell to the US customers.
In order to avoid court tribunal against the United States law from gaining the adverts of illegal drugs, the Goggle firm has decided to pay the said amount.
According to the federal investigator the $500-million fine is reasonable based on the revenue of the firm taken from the adverts.
Normally, the Google firm has its own policy of not allowing any unlawful adverts in the since that the internet giant firm has proper observance of the United States law.
“We banned the advertising of prescription drugs in the US by Canadian pharmacies some time ago. However, it’s obvious with hindsight that we should not have allowed these ads on Google in the first place” the company said in a short statement.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Justice had noticed that selling of drugs in the United States has inadequate control. But in Canada, they have their own regulatory rules to observe by every Pharmacy.
US Department also said that the Canadian regulatory authority has no control over all Canadian pharmacies that have shipped prescription drugs to the US residents. The US Department also admitted that there are drugs coming in the United States from other countries other than Canada. And this was happened because of inadequate pharmacy regulations.
In addition to that, the higher price of the drug is one of the factors to be blamed that some drugs could be acquired by the US residents without a prescription from the doctor.
