Topiary, alleged LulzSec hacker released on bail

Must wear an electronic tag, observe and follow overnight curfew, stay in central England in his mother’s house and most important, he is not allowed to access and use the internet were just few of the probations covered of the temporary release of the alleged hackers spokesman of hacking groups.

Popularly known as “Topiary” in the cyber world, Jake Davis (his real name) was released on bail after being arrested last week in Shetland Islands, Scotland.

Topiary as reported had been controlling and managing the Twitter Feeds of “Lulz Security”, a group of hackers who shot to fame after intruding PBS website by posting fake news.

During Topiary’s appearance in the court, he said nothing except personal information. On August 30, he will be back for court appearance.

Jake Davis arrest is one of the product of the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive hunting of authorities especially with the efforts of Scotland Yard and FBI of the U.S. in order to trace and to punish those people behind the breach suffered by numerous websites, may it be high-profile or not.

A report published recently states that FBI, British and Dutch authorities had captured 21 suspected people who had been part of the numerous hacking incident.

Aside from managing the Twitter feeds for Lulz Sec, Davis was also linked to Anonymous. In fact, he was being pointed to have been the spokesperson for these two groups.

At present, Lulz Sec is no longer making noise, for they had announced months ago that they will disband. They had mentioned that 50 days of rowing together had come to end however, it was not detailed if some of the members had joined to Anonymous.

LulzSec were known in conducting hacking activities just for fun. In fact, the internet jargon “LOL” rooted from them. On the contrary, Anonymous are hackers and activists at the same time.
