16-Year-Old Teen Allegedly Stabs Friend After Being Refused Cigarette
A 16-year-old teen has allegedly stabbed his 21-year-old friend following a disagreement over a cigarette in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
According to reports from the Malaybalay City Police Station, the incident happened in Purok 9, Barangay Managok. Before the stabbing took place, the victim and the teenage suspect had spent time together at a local store and videoke area at around 11:00 p.m. July 11, 2026.
Police said the minor asked the victim for a cigarette, but the request was turned down because the victim did not have any to give.

After leaving the billiard hall with several friends, the victim was suddenly attacked. The suspect reportedly used a knife and stabbed the 21-year-old man without warning. The unexpected assault shocked the residents and quickly drew the attention of local residents.
Members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team immediately responded to the situation and rushed the victim to the Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center for treatment. Medical personnel attended to his injuries, and authorities later confirmed that he was in stable condition while continuing to receive care.
Barangay tanods quickly took action and turned the teenage suspect over to the Malaybalay City Police. The minor is now under the custody of the Women and Children Protection Desk while proper procedures are being carried out.

Police officers continue to investigate the case to determine all the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. Authorities are also reminding residents to work closely with law enforcement and community leaders to help maintain peace and safety in their neighborhoods.
The incident reminds the public of how small disagreements can suddenly escalate into serious situations.
