San Jose National High School Suspends Classes Following New Threat

Classes at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City were suspended again following a new threat.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City announced the suspension of classes after reports of a new threat directed at the school. In its advisory, the school stated that the decision was made to ensure the safety and security of students, teachers, and school personnel.

According to sources and several parents, the school reportedly received another threat just a week after face-to-face classes had resumed. The reported threat raised concerns among families and members of the school community, prompting school officials to take precautionary measures.

The latest development comes less than a month after a tragic incident that shook the school and the city. On June 22, 2026, a shooting incident inside the campus resulted in the deaths of three people and left around 20 others injured.

The event deeply affected students, parents, teachers, and residents, many of whom are still trying to recover from the trauma caused by violence.

Reports indicated that the new threat allegedly mentioned the possibility of another disturbance similar to the incident that happened in June.

School officials decided to suspend classes while authorities assess the situation and determine the appropriate actions needed to protect everyone on campus. Many parents expressed concern over the safety of their children, especially since students had only recently returned to in-person learning.

The suspension, although temporary, was seen by many as an important step to prevent any possible danger while the matter is being looked into.

As of this writing, neither the Department of Education office in Tacloban City nor the local police have released an official statement regarding the reported threat. Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the situation.
