Oral-B Mouthwash Recalled by Procter & Gamble for Possible Contamination

Procter & Gamble Philippines Inc., an American leading consumer products company had voluntarily recalled one of it’s product on the market the Oral-B mouthwash. The main reasons were possible contamination of their product after potentially harmful microbial levels were found.

The  “Oral-B Tooth and Gum Care Alcohol-Free Mouth Rinse” were voluntarily pulled out from the shelves of different supermarkets and distributing outlets by the distribution arms of Procter & Gamble Philippines. The governing-arm in-charge of overseeing the issue, the Philippine Food and Drug Administration had been informed already about the recall.

In an advisory posted in a newspaper the company was quoted as “This is a precautionary step after detecting out-of-specification microbial levels in some products produced at one of its contract manufacturing facilities.” according to an ad in a newspaper.

The recalled products were the 500, 350 and 60 milliliters sizes of  Oral B Tooth and Gum Care Alcohol- Free Mouth Rinse. It was said to be manufactured from one of its facilities in Retycol, Columbia.

According to Procter & Gamble which was reported by ABS-CBN “although the products poses virtually no risks to healthy people. However, those with severely weakened immune systems may be susceptible to adverse effects.” stated by ABS-CBN in its news report.

According to a separate report from chinadaily.com, Oral-B products was also recalled in China, Canada and the United States. The same products that was recalled in the Philippines. Customers were advised to check the date of manufacture with best before date from Friday, June 15, 2011 to June 30 of 2014.

Procter & Gamble promised to refund the products that had already been purchased by the customers. The refund will start today, July 16, 2011
