The Philippine Azkals had won the 2nd leg of the home and away match against Sri Lanka for the first round of qualification of the Asian World Cup Qualifiers. Cheffy Caligdong, Angel Guirado and Phil Youngbusbands had scored goal for the Philippine Azkals.
Cheffy Caligdong the man from Barotac Nuevo, Ilo-ilo and a veteran of the Philippine National Football Team had made the first goal for the Azkals at the 19th minute mark. Emelio Caligdong was also chosen as the best player of the game.
Phil Younghusband added another goal which was nullified at first but after some discussions with the referee it was granted as a goal for the Philippine team putting them on lead at 2-0 during the first half.
At the second half of the game the 2-0 scores in favor of the Azkals was added with another goal from Angel Guirado after the Sri Lankan goalkeeper was tricked with his football movement. It was made at 50th minute. An awesome p(–foul word(s) removed–) from James Younghusbands was the reason why he was able to make his attacks.
The fourth ad final goal came from Phil Younghusband with a penalty kick at the 56th minute. Phil Younghusband topscored the Philippine Azkals.
The next game will against Kuwait which will be held at Kuwait for the first game and will returned to the Philippines for the second game of the eat.
The Philippine Azkals had dominated the entire game with more than 40 shots for the entire game. They were dominating on their offense and defense and brought about their full potential as one of the best in Asia.
