The star that barely appeared this season in the league representing Manchester City is likely to leave the club and join Blackburn Rovers. The Paraguayan striker could not win hearts this season. The manager of Manchester City Roberto Mancini has confirmed the transfer of Roque Santa Cruz along with another transfer of Shaun Wright Phillips. The two players are likely to move to Blackburn Rovers in the upcoming days.
Blackburn was the first England club where Santa Cruz made his mark. Wright Phillips had been representing Fulham, Birmingham and West Ham. The background of the transfer depicts that the tenure of Mancini may be one of the reason for such a transfer. The two players had been signed previously by Mark Hughes, the former boss of the club but the players have now become unfavorable for Mancini.
Thought the players have different concerns in regard to this transfer. Shaun Wright Phillips is tempted to link up with former boss Hughes at Fulham club but the Paraguayan striker is keen to get settled in Blackburn because of his family.
Prior to the 17.5 million pound deal, Santa Cruz had been a major contributor to the Blackburn. He scored 23 goals in the 2007-08 season of Premier league. Injuries have also been a hurdle for Santa Cruz at Manchester City. His total appearance includes 24 games, out of which 16 have been appeared as a bench spectator.
Mancini said that every player wants to play but it becomes difficult for me to choose. He said that Santa Cruz will probably go to Blackburn. Adebayor has also been linked to such a situation but the situation somehow becomes complicated in a sense that Manchester City awaits the Italian striker Balotelli who is required to have a surgery for his consistent knee problem.
Mancini said that there are a lot of teams that await Adebayor, but the final decision of Balotelli will decide the fate of such a situation. Mancini is unwilling to leave Adebayor until the final decision about Balotelli arrives. He also said that may be Manu will leave, but this may end up in a situation where the club lacks three or four players for remaining season.
Santa Cruz has been an influential figure in Paraguayan history. The success of Paraguay international team is a result of his performance and also the combined performance of the other players as well.
