Michael Clark to Captain Australia in Final Ashes Test

Michael Clark is set to captain the Australian side in the fifth and the final test match of the Ashes. Australian captain Ricky Ponting which got an injury to his little finger in the third test match of the series played and aggravated the injury by playing in the fourth test match and now as a result he will be missing the final match. It is also rumored that Ponting has fractured his little finger which will ultimately rule him out from the one day international series as well.

Possible Retirement?

Australian people are certainly not happy with Pontings captaincy in the last few years as he has lost third Ashes series as a captain. More importantly, Australia lost 2005 Ashes in England after 19 years and now the latest defeat in Ashes in 2010 was the first time in 24 years when Australia has lost to England at their home soil. Many people have been suggesting Ponting to retire from the international cricket because he has been totally out of form at the moment and possibly we can say that he has now become a burden on the team.

What Next for Ponting?

It is really a question mark on the future of Ponting as the cricket world cup looms in February so whats next for his future? Should he regain his fitness and captain the side in the world cup or should he retire with some respect and dignity. This is really a big question mark and to be honest it is very pathetic as well because it will be very unfair for one of the greatest captains in the history of cricket to end his life in cricket in this manner.

A Final Say

But we know that form is temporary and cl(–foul word(s) removed–) is permanent so we can say that everyone can expect Ponting to have the final say by leading the country to victory in the World cup and then retire from all forms of cricket just like he had done in retiring from T20 international cricket.
