Russia Views Military Ties With PH Under Duterte, Says Russian Ambassador

Russia is expected to have a military and anti-terror cooperation under the new administration of the presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte, according to the Russian ambassador on Wednesday.

In a report on GMA News, Duterte already met the Russian ambassador Igor Khovaev and promised to promote military cooperation with the Philippines.

“It is time to promote our military cooperation…. We have a great potential for cooperation in the field, in the struggle against terrorism and other challenges and threats to security and sustainable development,” said Khovaev as quoted in the report.

According to the report, the Russian ambassador mentioned the terror groups such as Abu Sayyaf and the ISIS during the meeting in a hotel in Davao City.

He said that Russia is ‘willing to closely cooperate” to the Philippines by sharing their know-how on terror1sm.

The ambassador also recognized bot the Philippines and Russia had suffered a lot from terror saying that it’s a common threat. He added that with the combined efforts, there will be a possibility to eliminate these terror groups that brings fear to all.

“We have a full mutual understanding in this respect. Russia, of course, has a lot more experience in this field,” he added,” added that Russian ambassador.

Khovaev also said that Russia is open to the sharing of experience, information, and are open for a close partnership regarding this field.

Duterte already met different ambassadors from countries like Japan, Israel, and China.

Can this partnership with Russia become the solution for the “terror” problems in the Philippines?

Could this be a good sign for all?

  1. Yes, we need the Russian Style KGB to combat drugs, criminality, corruptions, and instilling Law and Order to the Public..There will be lots of plain clothes spies and informants, sting operations, raids, drug lords and filipino mafias disappearing with no trace.

  3. What a perfect match and how advanced the Philippines are!
Mr. Duterte will just shoot the persons he doesn’t like – Putin is behind by just bury most of them in Jail.
Some collateral damages might be expected when Russian planes bomb terrorist cities or drug dealers homes.
Maybe some planes of Cebu Pacific or PAL might be dropping from the sky when people are not anymore sure what to shoot at when US and Russia go at war over the Philippines.
Oh, by the way, as a welcome present and to finance the action against terrorists and drugs the Spratly Islands can be sold for a few pesos to Russias only friends in China. Another problem solved!

What a pity that Russia didn’t resolve any terrorist problem in history. You can look at Afghanistan, the former russian allied countries or any other place where poverty and unequal rights or access to ressources are the root cause for conflicts of all kinds.

    Good luck for the Philippines!

    • Also said the ” Peaceful European “; clearly a Russia- hater.
I think the new President Duterte does a good thing by intensify the contacts with Russia.
President Putin is a real great leader.
I wish here in Europe we would have a leader like mister Putin.

    • Ask india and china, countries that have close ties to russia, and they will tell you that close ties are no strings attatched, not like with the U S who try to bully with ‘free trade deals’ which benefit US busineeses and crush the poorer nations…russia works on mutual understandings for benefit of all the nations they deal with…

  6. I think there is no wrong if the PH will improved its relation with Russia, right now many Pilipinos are in Russia working in many fields.. so there is a good reason… it is better to be friendly with many countries like Russia.. Mr. Putin is a man of word as he did in Syria…Even their defense are better also..
    Good luck Philippines and Russia…

  7. Ohh! Nice. Russia is a potential allied country of the Philippines because the main agenda of the presumptive President is criminality, terrorism and security, which are the issues Russia trying to solve in the international domain. And talking about the reaction of USA, it’ not about them, they must let the people of the Philippines react and decide because that is the real essence of democracy and freedom. It’s not about what countries the Philippines will cooperate, but its about having a remedy of the said issues and maintain international relations to any country in the world.

  9. Every strong country is interested to make philippines their territory, natural Gas everywhere, gold, nickel, silver, copper deposits everywhere as well, newly discovered deposit of minerals “Platinum and other mineral combi” near romblon island, newly discovered gas deposit in east philippines sea facing pacific region. Scarborough shoal full of gas, southern mindanao full of Gas, surigao’ “Largest gas deposit in the world”, where else?…those are their INTEREST not the Help to Filipino people. War is business. every bullet cost a dollar. How about philippines will invest into something that can extract its natural gas and minerals so that somehow our country can atleast earn. And the majority workers are Filipinos not any other breed. Then the country will use the money to strengthen its military power. Pres. DUTERTE is our only hope for this.

  10. Bravo! A Philippines and Russia mutual cooperation surely is very beneficial to both countries. Russia under Putin is a very trusting partner and whose agenda in international relations is sincere. Rest (removed)ured Russia will not screw us from back unlike the west.
Mayor Digong, I am praying that the Almighty will guide your Presidency to the leadership of Putin…
And may the Philippines and Russia prosper in this mutual cooperation.
Our hope for Change is very positive…

  11. WHy are you people talking about war? Let us talk about business and relationships. If you are between two big brothers, don’t make them your enemies but business partners. Don’t see them as masters but partners. If Philippines have something to share with, then share it between two not only one. If one behaves like a bully then it is his loss, because the other will definitly side with you. We have ASIA, consists of Russia, China, India, ASEAN, etc etc. USA will have to join in peacefully or it will completely lost their frieds in ASIA. Only few wants USA by their sides now a days. USA will soon will be isolated by all nations. So I suggest all ASIA should unite and protect its borders from other coutries that does not contribute to the best of ASIAN nations. It can be done peacefully. South Korea should think about where it stands. It should be with its ASIAN neighbours rather than with USA. About time ASIA and Russia should have strong ties together. Business or border security issues.

  12. But of course the Phils. SHOULD rightfully welcome Amb(removed)ador Khovaev’s generous offer of broad (removed)istance programs from the Russian Federation ranging from civilian infrastructure rehabilitation, the sizeable purchase of Phil agricultural produce, tourism development, technology transfer to prepare the country towards cutting-edge industrialisation, to that of upgrading the Phil Armed Forces appalingly equipped with the latest U.S.-SUPPLIED PREHISTORIC FARM IMPLEMENTS AS WEAPONS OF WAR . . . everything geared towards achieving COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
What more could one poor country ask for, coming from a sincere offer of help from a superpower?

Those American monkeys in Washington hardly made an offer like these over the years while always claiming that America is a STAUNCH ALLY and that it’s defense treaty with the Phils. is IRONCLAD. . .BULL. . .

These American monkeys make it VERY DIFFICULT for Filipinos to even secure a simple travel visa to the US by making them form long queue lines along Roxas Boulevard with no prospect of the certainty of approved visa applications !
A glaring contrast to the British government when it relinquised Hongkong back to China where it AUTOMATICALLY allowed Hongkees to apply for British p(removed)ports.

USGov makes the Phils. pay for the procurement of mothballed junk military equipment that they have long ceased to use .

The recent suspension of the sale of badly-needed SigSauer M400 carbines for law enforcement purposes is a case in point wherein America interferes with Phil internal affairs.
America supplies ISIL terrorists in Syria with heavy-duty military armaments to illegally bring down Assad, yet witholds the sale of “faulty DirectGasImpingementSystem carbines” to it’s STAUNCH ALLY, the Philippines.

Wake up Filipinos, America has been jerking-off Filipinos since it purchased the Philippines from Spain for a paltry USD20million_ArnoldSchwarzenegger’s Hollywood acting fee!

U ncle S hithead is so full of it !
