The training camp of the Gilas Pilipinas, Philippine National Basketball Team ended in a losing note but with an impressive records of 5-2 win-loss card. The Gilas lost on its final game against Birstono Jazz-Diremta with the final score at 79-86 score.
During the game, the Philippines lost two its key players with Fil-Am Gabe Norwood fly back to Manila to marry his long time girlfriend Lei Feranil while Marc Pingris suffered with a strained shoulder.
Gilas Pilipinas already defeated the Birstono squad during their first encounter with the final score at 74-63 during last week’s meeting. The National Team is expected to arrive in Manila on Monday.
The Filipinos will continue their regular daily practice in Manila by next week before leaving on the first week of July for Las Vegas for another series of tune-up matches.
All the preparations were made by the National Squad to ensure that they are fit enough in the upcoming FIBA Asia Championship which will be hosted by the Philippines this coming August. An inclusion in the Top 3 Squad in Asia will secure the Philippines ticket to FIBA World Championship in Spain.
