Apple Clock Copied from Hans Hilfiker Swiss Railways Clock

Apple got another complaint from one of the world’s most popular country producing clocks, Switzerland. According to the latest report from a Swiss magazine, the Switzerland Federal Railwasy stated taht Apple copied their iconic clock in its Clock app for iPad without permission.

The clock on the Federal Railways of Switzerland was originally designed by Hans Hilfiker way back the year 1940’s. It was copyright solely by the owner of the clock.

The version of Apple’s clock on its iPad devices was very much similar to the clock from Switzerland which was prominently displayed on different stations of the Swiss Railways.

The newspaper report was quoted as saying that “SBB is the sole owner of the trademark and copyright of the railway clock. The Railway company will now get in touch with Apple. The aim is a lega, as well as a financial solution. It is not right that one (Apple) simply copies the design.” A Swiss newspaper reported.

Despite the fact that the iconic clock was copyright in Switzerland, the design has been heavily licensed and used for watches sold at numbers of retailers worldwide.
