Yen Baet Wins the Prestigious National Geographic Photo Contest

Yen Baet, Full-blooded Filipina winner of National Geographic Photo Contest

Yen Baet, the Filipino finalists of the National Geographic Photo Contest was declared the winner by popular votes. The winner which was chosen through public voting and with U.S. citizens only were allowed to vote. She was fighting with tough competitions among fellow photographers.

National Geographic had a worldwide circulation and translated into 33 different languages, with nearly 9 million circulations and 50 million subscribers. It is indeed another achievement to the Filipino people not only in America but also in the Philippines and in other parts of the world.

Yen Baet was a Filipina photographer currently based in England.  A full-blooded Filipina born at Ozamis City in Mindanao. She spent her school years in San Pablo, Laguna but finally settled in San Fernando, Pampanga.

She discovered her p(–foul word(s) removed–)ion in photography on December 2007 when she acquired her first ever d-SLR camera and take full control of her p(–foul word(s) removed–)ion while staying in Europe.

“Rainy Night in Hallstatt” was the entry of Yen Baet to the National Geographic Exceptional Experience Photo Contest which happens to be her first. Without so much surprise she was shocked upon hearing the news and getting the personal e-mail from National Geographic that her entry was one of the finalist.

The achievement of Yen Baet as the newly adjudged winner of the National Geographic Photo Contest. According to the National Geographic website, Yen Baet have won nine-day National Geographic Expedition to Peru for two with an approximate value of  $13,000.
