Born on July 25, 1998 in Taiwan, Paolo Gumabao’s real name is Paul Chen. He is the son of former actor Dennis Roldan and Sheryl Sorreta. He spent his childhood in Taiwan and he was not aware then that Mr. Chen, a Taiwanese, is not his biological father. He has always been vocal about his gratitude and how much he appreciates how his stepfather treated him like his own son. He was legally adopted by the Taiwanese when he was still a baby and he was even more touched by his love when he knew he is not his biological son.

Paolo Gumabao’s age was 13 when his family flew to the Philippines. They settled in Virac, Catanduanes and moved to Quezon City a year after. It was then that his mother told him about his real father. According to him, he got the number of Dennis and called him. They met without the knowledge of his mom at first. The veteran actor did not ask for any DNA testing as he immediately recognized that he is really his son.

According to Paolo, he and his paternal family would usually visit Dennis in jail together. He is the half-brother of Kapamilya actor Marco Gumabao and beauty queen Michele Gumabao.

Paolo Gumabao’s Showbiz Career

It was in 2014 when Paolo entered the showbiz industry through the film The Firefighters: The Unsung Heroes. In 2016, he inked a contract with GMA-7 and was one of the cast of the Regal Entertainment film I Love You To Death. Recently, he signed a contract with ABS-CBN Network’s talent arm, Star Magic.
