In the said beauty pageant, the Philippines has brought home the crown several times like when Catriona Gray won as Miss Universe Philippines 2018.
Catriona Gray’s Personal Background
Born on January 6, 1994 in Cairns, Queensland, the complete name of the Miss Universe 2018 is Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray. Her father, Ian Gray, is an Australian with a Spanish descent while her Filipina mother, Normita Ragas Magnayon, is from Oas, Albay. She was named after her grandmothers – Catherine Gray and Elsa Magnayon.
Catriona grew up in Cairns. She enrolled at Trinity Anglican School and later on took a graduate certificate in music theory at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She finished high school abroad before she flew back to the Philippines and starting working as a commercial model.
Catriona Gray’s Beauty Pageant Journey
Before becoming the Miss Universe 2018, Catriona first became the Miss World Philippines in 2016. She finished Miss World 2016 as one of the Top 5. In 2018, she joined Binibining Pilipinas and was crowned to represent the Philippines in the higher level.
Held in Thailand in December 2018, the Miss Universe pageant got Catriona happily performing on stage that many were hooked by her. She made the Filipinos very proud of her as she brought home the fourth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines.
Catriona Gray-Sam Milby Relationship
Catriona is currently in a relationship with Kapamilya actor Sam Milby. It was last July 2020 when the Miss Universe 2018 confirmed that they are together. The celebrity couple is low-key about their relationship.
