Parties, Loud Music Prohibited in Boracay Island on Good Friday
BORACAY – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malay, Aklan prohibits parties and loud music in the island on Good Friday.
Among the holidays in the Philippines are the days intended for the Holy Week celebration. Most people don’t work on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. To some families, they usually go out of town during the Holy Week.
Many people love spending the Holy Week in beach resorts and mountain hideouts where they can relax and reflect. Thus, resort bookings are usually high during the Holy Week but there are also restrictions in line with the religious events.
Based on a report on GMA News, the local government unit (LGU) in Malay, Aklan reminded the public that playing loud music and partying are not allowed in Boracay on Good Friday. The said reminder is backed by the 2009 Sangguniang Bayan resolution that prohibits partying and playing of loud music in the island on Good Friday.
According to the report, Malay Vice Mayor Niño Carlos Cawaling wrote to the Business Permits and Licensing Office ordering the office not to issue special permits for parties in Boracay on Good Friday. The conduct of parties are only allowed until Maundy Thursday and may resume on Black Saturday.
Boracay is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Philippines. It has been the favorite go-to island of many Filipinos and tourists every Holy Week and many people even reserve their accommodation very early to ensure their booking.
This coming weekend is going to be a long weekend for a lot of Filipinos since April 10 (Monday) is a non-working day in observance of the Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan).
