Former Gov. Pryde Henry Teves Speaks on Issues Involving Cong. Arnie Teves
PRYDE HENRY TEVES – The former Governor of Negros Oriental broke his silence on the accusations against his older brother, Congressman Arnie Teves.
Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnie Teves was implicated by one of the suspects in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo as the alleged mastermind behind the plot. Teves is currently abroad and refused to go home despite the expiry of his travel clearance.
According to the Congressman, he is concerned about his safety thus he has yet to return home to the Philippines although he wants to. His refusal came amid the authorities assuring him that security will be extended to him when he comes home.
The Teves family is a political rival of the late Gov. Roel Degamo who died due to an attack lodged by men wearing pixelated uniforms at his home in Pamplona last March 4. The late Governor unseated former Negros Oriental Gov. Pryde Henry Teves, the younger brother of Cong. Arnie Teves, when the Commission on Elections (Comelec) declared him as the rightful winner of the latest gubernatorial election in their province.
Amid the accusations against Cong. Arnie Teves, former Negros Oriental Gov. Pryde Henry Teves hopes for his older brother to decide to come home. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he shared that he has talked to their brothers and their parents and they stand in common ground hoping that Cong. Arnie will go home and face the accusations against him.
“As of now, if it’s the President himself who guarantees his safety, I think he will be safe enough. Maybe to stop all these and shed light on everything, maybe it’s about time he comes home. In one way of another, he will have to face all of these,” the former Negros Oriental Governor said.
Amid their family’s hope, the younger Teves expressed that cannot decide for his brother but they are of opinion. He admitted that all their family members are affected by what is happening and they have no plan of exiting the province.
