Arnie Teves Given Until 5PM Today To Show Up, House Panel Says

Cong. Arnie Teves Given 24-Hour Ultimatum to Go Home to PH

ARNIE TEVES – The Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative is given by the House Ethics Panel until 5:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 21, 2023, to show up.

Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr.’s name is dragged into the accusations surrounding the death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo. The Governor was killed at his home in Pamplona on a Saturday, March 4.

Men wearing pixelated uniform entered the compound of Gov. Degamo and shot the Governor. Aside from him, his ally and several civilians also died due to the incident. Three (3) suspects were arrested by the authorities five (5) hours since the attack.

One of the suspects claimed that Cong. Arnie Teves, a political rival of Gov. Roel Degamo, is the man behind the killing of the Governor. Degamo unseated Teves’ younger brother, Pryde Henry Teves, when he was declared as the rightful winner of the 2022 elections for governor.

Amid the accusation, Teves is in the United States. His travel clearance expired last March 9 but he refused to go home. According to his camp, the Congressman is worried about his safety and the safety of his family.

The House ethics panel demands explanation from Cong. Arnie Teves for his extended overseas stay despite the expiry of his travel clearance. He is considered absent from the sessions in the Congress.

Teves requested for a 2-month leave from the House of Representatives but it was declined. He was given until yesterday, March 20, to appear at the office of the House Speaker.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the House ethics panel extended the ultimatum for Cong. Arnie Teves to appear at Batasang Pambansa and explain his extended stay abroad. The lawmaker is given 24 hours or until 5:00 p.m. today, March 21, 2023, to appear at Batasang Pambansa.

Reportedly, if the Congressman will not appear within the 24-hour ultimatum, the action of the Committee will be based on his non-appearance. If he appears, the decision will not be on the disciplinary action as he appeared within the ultimatum given.
