Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Ilocos Norte, February 28, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.9 magnitude quake in Ilocos Norte today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Ilocos Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.9.
The earthquake that struck Ilocos Norte today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 01:54 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Burgos.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Ilocos Norte was located at 18.87°North, 120.30°East – 054 km North 43° West of Burgos with a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intenstities were recorded as well as per the bulletin released by the quake-monitoring agency.
