Multi-awarded star Angelica Panganiban spoke about this chapter of her life and shared her reflections from those experiences.
A couple of years ago, ABS-CBN actress Angelica Panganiban revealed that she has avascular necrosis or bone disease. It was a complicated journey she had to go through, which included multiple surgeries.
She did a bone replacement as her last resort after the previous treatments were deemed unsuccessful. The last operation was successful, making her continue living, spend time with her daughter, and slowly get back to acting.
Recalling this journey, the actress expressed that she doesn’t want to go back to her previous body anymore, and considering the series of operations she went through, it’s easy to understand why.
In Alyssa Valdez’s vlog, the actress was asked about her iconic line from her hit film Beauty in a Bottle: “Come back to the young and beautiful you.”
Angelica said she would not change anything about the experience and used it as an opportunity to reflect on her current relationship with her body.
She shared that although she once had a figure that matched traditional showbiz standards, she has already accepted that that version of herself has changed, and she is now at peace with it.
“After giving birth, parang minahal mo ‘yung sarili mo sa capacity niya, at kung ano ‘yung capabilities niya. Of course, dumaan ka dun sa stage na parang ang ganda ng katawan ko noon. Makekemback ko ba ‘yun? Kaya mo kung katulad ka nung iba na to begin with, athletic ka or talagang ganu’n ‘yung lifestyle mo. Eh ako, hindi naman talaga ako ganu’n,” she said.
Angelica also opened up about the difficult medical journey she faced in 2024, which involved undergoing three surgeries after being diagnosed with avascular necrosis (AVN).
