PAGASA Says Shearline Will Bring Rain Over Parts of PH
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shearline will bring rains and thunderstorms over some parts of the country.
On Thursday (January 19, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Shearline and northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that shearline will be affecting the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas while the northeast monsoon will be affecting the rest of Luzon.
The shearline will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, and Northern Samar.
The northeast monsoon will bring similar weather condition over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Laguna, and Oriental Mindoro.
Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The localized thunderstorms will bring the same weather condition over the remaining parts of the country.
“Patuloy ang pag-uulan sa malaking bahagi po ng Southern Luzon and Visayas, dahil yan sa shear line, yung linya kung saan nagtatagpo ang northeast monsoon at yung mainit na hangin mula sa Dagat Pasipiko, so asahan pa rin yung minsan na malalakas na pag-ulan sa mga nabanggit ko na lugar,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja said.
The weather agency has also warned the public for possible flooding or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon, the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, and Eastern Visayas will be rough. The rest of Luzon and Visayas will have moderate to rough sea condition. Mindanao will have slight to moderates seas.
