A naughty ninong gives ‘Angpao’ containing picture of a Philippine hero to his godchildren “May naghihintay sa inyong Aguinaldo”.
Angpao is a red envelope, red packet or red pocket is a monetary gift given during holidays or for special occasions such as a wedding, graduation, or the birth of a baby. It is observed among East and Southeast Asian cultures.
Although the red envelope was popularized by Chinese traditions, other cultures also share similar traditional customs. The red packet is also called “money warding off old age.
A Facebook user named Jonn Armand Cholo Barcebal has shared the photo of several red envelopes he will give to his godchildren as ‘pamasko’. The post immediately goes viral online and elicits comments from the netizens.
In the photo, it can be seen that the Barcebal bought several red envelopes called ‘Angpao’. He placed some pictures of the Philippines hero Emilio Aguinaldo inside the envelopes before giving it to his godchildren.
Cholo placed pictures of Emilio Aguinaldo instead of money inside ‘Angpao’. The male netizen decided to do it just for fun to see the reactions of his godchildren. His ‘inaanaks’ just laughed at his gimmick.
Barcebal’s gimmick also brings laughter and earns various reactions from the online community.
