Lucky Couple Sold Golden Necklace They Found in Sea for P400k
HISTORICAL ITEM – A couple from Davao del Sur found a golden necklace from their fishing net and sold it for P400, 000.
A woman identified as Lani together with her husband ventured into the sea to catch fish last September 16, 2022. The two aims to earn money so they could buy food and Lani joked “sana makakita tayo ng ginto”.
Luckily, the couple found a golden necklace in their fishing net. Lani and her partner were surprised and glimpse a ray of hope due to what they have found. At first, the two thought that it was fake.
Lani’s sibling researched on the internet and assumed that it was real and an antique one based on its design. They even brought the jewelry into a jewelry shop to determine whether it was real or not.
The couple expressed their happiness after learning that the necklace weighing about 100 grams is made of real gold.
The antique collector Dr. Potenciano Malvar examined the item and claimed that it was pure gold. He said that the necklace is aging at least 500 years old. The item could be displayed in the museum because it can be considered as a historical treasure.
However, Lani has already sold it to a private collector Mayor Jose Nelson “Tata” Sala, of Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur for P400, 000. She will use the money to redeem their land, which was pawned by her father.
