NBI Arrests 2 Makati City Hall Employees for Stealing Motorcycle
Two Makati City hall employees have been arrested by the police authorities after stealing a motorcycle in Quezon City.
Nowadays, robbery has been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various regions all around the world. Some criminals have no choice but to commit crimes due to lack of job opportunities.
The Philippine government is implementing stricter policy but the crimes continue to exist behind the knowledge of the authorities. The rate of criminality continue to increase despite the stricter rules and regulations.
NBI-Officer-In-Charge, Director Eric Distor said that one of the suspects is working as a former OIC of the Makati City impounding unit while the other suspect is working at the General Services Department.
NBI launched an operation after receiving complaints in 2018 from the big bike owned identified as alias ‘John’. According to the victim, the suspects confiscated his motorcycle at a checkpoint in Barangay Pio del Pilar.
The authorities were able to acquire a search warrant against the suspects after weeks of intensive surveillance. Eventually, the law enforcers were able to recover the stolen motorcycle at Barangay Taliba, San Luis, Batangas.
The suspect explained that he bought the bike at a public auction and even presented the proof of purchase. The agency also discovered that the suspect presented fake documents.
The suspects will face charges of carnapping, administrative cases, and violation Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees under the Revised Penal Code.
Unfortunately, the victim was shocked after he failed to find his bike at the impounding center.
