6 MPD Cops Accused of Extortion to SK Chairman who Violated Curfew Arrested
Six (6) cops from the Manila Police District (MPD) have been disarmed over extortion against an SK Chairman and friend for violating curfew.
According to the report, the six disarmed MPD cops were transported to the General Assignment and Investigation Section (GAIS) after a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman charged them with robbery extortion. The SK chairman and a companion were allegedly arrested by the police after they allegedly broke the curfew.

The incident occurred at 1 a.m. on Luzon Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila, according to the complainant. Jericho Laniog, 24, of Brgy. 313, Sta. Cruz and a companion were allegedly hanging around in the vicinity and conversing.
The cops appeared out of nowhere and charged them with breaking Ordinance 8737. (Metro Wide Curfew). When the police searched the SK Chairman’s acquaintance, they discovered drug paraphernalia, according to one of the officers.
They were hauled to Padre Algue PCP on the basis of the complainant’s story, and the authorities demanded money for their immediate release. For P47,500, the victim allegedly pawned his motorcycle and jewelry.
Laniog, on the other hand, immediately complained to MPD-PS2 after his release. When the officers were recognized by the SK chair, the authorities took action, disarming them and handing them over to MPD-GAIS.
Pat. Kenneth Cordova, P/Cpl. Johndee Toledo, Pat. Danny Rangaid, P/SSg. Jeffrey Mejia, P/Cpl. Jigie Azores, and P/Cpl. Kevin John Villanueva, all of whom are attached to the Padre Algue Police Community Precinct, was positively identified by the complainant.
