Netizens have been sharing this meme about Rabiya Mateo
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo has this reaction to her recent meme that is about her “nadapa” moment during her final walk.
It has been a tradition of every beauty pageant that the reigning queen will have her final walk before crowning the new winner. This moment can bring nostalgia as the reigning queen would somehow reminisce the time when she was crowned until the last day of her reign.
However, on the recently-concluded Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night, an extra amusement happened. Unexpectedly, Rabiya Mateo tripped and fell on her knees. When asked by pageant’s host KC Montero, the Ilongga beauty said, “Once you fall, you have to stand up.”
The video clip of that portion of Rabiya’s final walk went viral. Because of this, a meme also caught the attention of the online community. In the said meme, the popular mascot of Netflix’s hit series Squid Game was digitally placed in the middle of the MUP stage, and on the side, it can be seen the image of Rabiya when she fell on her knees.
Her friend Miss Universe Philippines 2014, shared this meme. MJ wrote this caption: “Ibyang (Rabiya’s nickname) 1st game pa lang eliminated ka na [laughing emoji].” Rabiya Mateo reposted this with this caption: “Hahaha sorry na po! Wala talaga akong balance and coordination.”
The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 also shared another post from MJ and it was a photo taken while she was speaking. The latter wrote this inspiring phrase: “Bangon everyday! Labyu @rabiyamateo.” Rabiya answered that she heard MJ laughed when she fell. “Echusera. Narinig kita tumawa ng nadapa ako ehh!” she said.
Meanwhile, Rabiya recently signed a contract with GMA-7 as she is ready to pursue her career as an actress. After her contract signing, she had her first guesting on The Boobay and Tekla Show.
