Here’s what Liza Soberano said after being given this opportunity.
Liza Soberano is excited and grateful as she got the lead voice role for the “Forgotten Island” of DreamWorks.
As Liza Soberano pursues her Hollywood dream, opportunities serve as her stepping stone, coming one by one. After Liza’s stint in the ‘Lisa Frankenstein’ movie, another opportunity was given to her, and this time, she is lending her voice.
DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Forgotten Island’ is in the works, and among those picked for the lead voices cast was Soberano. Soberano from Frankenstein will be working along with H.E.R. (The Color Purple), Lea Salonga (KPop Demon Hunters), Dave Franco (Regretting You), Manny Jacinto (Freakier Friday), and Jenny Slate (Dying for Sex) to lead the voice cast for the animated comedy adventure film.
Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado are writing and directing the movie set to be released theatrically on September 25, 2026.
The story will center on lifelong best friends Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano), who found themselves on the magical and forgotten island of Nakali, and the only path home may come at the cost of losing the precious memories they share.
This is an island rooted in Philippine mythology, and marks the third collaboration between Crawford and producer Mark Swift. They worked together before for DreamWorks Animation‘s 2022 Oscar-nominated animated feature Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
In a post on social media, Soberano gushed about this and expressed her excitement and gratitude. With a mix of joy and disbelief, she wrote, “I can’t believe I get to be part of something as special as Forgotten Island!!”
She then thanked he studio and the film’s directors for the opportunity, saying, “Thank you @dreamworks @joel.crawford.art @jmercado for making my dreams come true.”
