Character Portrayal of Paolo Gumabao in Lockdown Catches Attention
PAOLO GUMABAO – The showbiz newbie actor earned praises from a lot of people over his new film entitled “Lockdown”.
Every year, there are several people who join the showbiz industry. Truths be told that being an actor or an actress is a dream of many individuals. Some of those who joined showbiz are sons and daughters of former actors and actresses. One of them is Paolo Gumabao, the son of former actor-politician Dennis Roldan. He is the half-brother of Kapamilya actor Marco Gumabao.
Paolo Gumabao recently inked a deal with Star Magic. He is one of the newbies under a new generation of artists under the talent arm of ABS-CBN Network.
It is no secret to the public that Paolo was already a teenager when he met Dennis Roldan. He grew up under the care of his mother and his step-father abroad. His step-father has legally adopted him that is why he bears the surname “Chen” in real life.
One of the first opportunities given to Paolo in his showbiz career is the movie “Lockdown”. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, his portrayal of his role in the said film earned him praises. Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) head Liza Dino said that the actor is brilliant and he was “raw” and “organic” the way he played his character.
Paolo played the role of Danny Asuncion, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was pressed by life with poverty and the critical illness of his father. He worked with Max Eigenmann in the said movie who admires his “passion and hunger”. According to the actress, his energy is contagious.
Lockdown director Joel Lamangan also praised Paolo Gumabao saying an actor was born. According to him, the actor is excellent, intelligent, and he carried the film well.
