The awarding ceremony of the 39th edition of the MMFF was held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Meralco Theater in Pasig City, Metro Manila. The star-studded event was attended by the Philippines most popular celebrities.

The 10,000 Hours movie, got the top prizes for Best Director Joyce Bernal, Best Supporting Actor Pen Medina. The movie nearly swept the awards in the technical and creative categories, with recognition for screenplay, cinematography, editing, musical score, sound engineering, visual effects and production design.

The most awarded movie in the MMFF 2013, the 10,000 Hours centers on Senator Gabriel Alcaraz as portrayed by Robin Padilla who goes into hiding after being accused of a crime he did not commit.

According to Robin Padilla’s interview earlier with some media, the movie was inspired by real-life events involving former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, who hid after an arrest warrant was released against him during the year 2000.

During the first two days of showing of the movie 10,000 Hours, the box office income is far from the recent success of the top three top-grossing movies of MMFF 2013. The movie does not rank among the Four Top-Earning Movies as of Friday, December 27, 2013.

  1. 10000 hours review:
Overall, the casts, even the ones with minor roles, have played their part well. There were some scenes that looked amateurish but the coherence of the story is solid. The twist in the end, while not original, is p(removed)able. Compared to other local films being produced 10,000 Hours is arguably one of the best.
