Several Regions Outside NCR Plus Under Monitoring Due To Increase in COVID-19 Cases

List of Regions Outside NCR Plus Under Monitoring for COVID-19 Cases

REGIONS OUTSIDE NCR PLUS – The government is monitoring several regions outside the NCR Plus amid their increasing COVID-19 cases.

The Philippines is one of the many countries and territories across the globe that is fighting against the spread of COVID-19. It has been more than a year now since the first case of the disease was logged by the Department of Health (DOH).

Unfortunately, new variants of COVID-19 were detected in other nations. The total cases of coronavirus recorded in PH is already more than 1-million now. The whole country remains under community quarantine measures.

Previously, following another spike in the cases of COVID-19, the national government placed the whole Metro Manila and the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the strictest among the four quarantine measures.

After a few weeks, the community quarantine in NCR Plus was eased to Modified ECQ and then further eased to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened measures. However, there are several regions outside the NCR Plus that are monitored now amid the increasing cases of COVID-19 in these regions.

Reportedly, the “average daily attack rate” or ADAR in the said regions increased. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has previously warned of another lockdown in case the COVID-19 cases will rise again. Here are the regions outside NCR Plus that are being monitored:

  • Region IV-B
  • Region V
  • Region VI
  • Region VIII
  • Region IX
  • Region X
  • Region XI
  • Region XII
  • CARAGA
  • BARRM

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Region 4B registered a positivity rate of 55.3% which means that for every two (2) people tested for COVID-19, one tests positive.

ABS-CBN News Data Analytics head Edson Guido expressed that if the testing numbers are only at 200 and that is the state of transmission, there is a possibility that the contact racing in the region is weak. Palawan recorded an increase in their COVID-19 cases.

According to PH testing czar Vince Dizon, there are limited number of COVID-19 vaccines and those areas with increasing cases of coronavirus will be prioritized. Puerto Princesa in Palawan is one of those that will be given a priority. Unfortunately, due to the delays in the supplies, the herd immunity may not be achieved this year as to the Department of Health (DOH).
