Vico Sotto added another feather to his cap
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has shared his reaction to the recognition from the U.S. State Department as he was named as one of the international anticorruption champions.
Once again the young mayor, who is the son of Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, caught the attention of the public because of a positive reason.
Despite his programs and his administration in Pasig that brought changes for the better, Mayor Vico is not fond of getting the attention of the public because of this.
He said that he never wanted to put his face on the project of LGU. The young mayor even jokingly said that kids might just put a mustache on his photo.
Previously, Megastar Sharon Cuneta commended the young politician for this achievement in his career as a government official. She also congratulated the parents of Mayor Vico who have been supporting his political journey from the time he filed his certificate of candidacy, to his campaign, until his oath-taking.
In line with this recent recognition for his hard work, Vico Sotto shared her reaction. Based on the report from Yahoo Philippines, the young mayor thanked the U.S. State Department.
Here is the statement of Mayor Vico:
“Thank you to the U.S. Department of State for this recognition. But more than the recognition, I hope this helps raise awareness. If we want better long-term governance, we need to fight corruption. We have to denormalize it, get it out of the culture.”
Among the recent projects of the Pasig City Mayor are a pay hike for healthcare workers and the approved plan for COVID-19 vaccination.
