Pres. Duterte Speaks About Importance of Face Mask
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered the officials of the local government to give free face masks to residents who can’t afford to buy.
The COVID-19 pandemic remains to be the biggest battle that the Philippines is facing now. It is one of the over 200 countries and territories that recorded cases of the said coronavirus disease.
In PH, the pandemic brought a lot of changes in the people’s way of living. Almost all sectors were affected and the economy is greatly suffering now due to the current situation.
Not all businesses can operate on a full workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Community quarantine measures are still up in the entire country now.

Also, face-to-face classes in schools are still prohibited amid the fight against the pandemic. Education authorities are delivering lessons to the students through blended learning – via modules and online classes.
Currently, it is a protocol that everyone must wear a face mask when going outdoors. There are consequences for those who will be caught not wearing a face mask outside their homes.
Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke about the importance of wearing a face mask. He also ordered the local government officials to give free face masks to those who cannot afford to buy it.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President believes that wearing face mask everyday can greatly help in the fight against COVID-19. Meanwhile, he recognized that not everyone can purchase it as many people are even struggling about their food.
“Iyong mga tao na walang-wala talaga. Hindi makabili nito kay bilhin mo ‘to eh [to LGU officials]. Iyong iba nga wala ngang pagkain, ‘di nga makabili ng ulam,” he said.
Based on the report, Pres. Duterte admitted that he himself is not used to wearing a face mask when speaking. He stressed that he runs the risk to contract COVID-19 everytime he removes his face mask and mentioned the Vice President.
“Ah may vice president man, siya na ang susunod,” the President expressed.
