DOH Sec. Duque Speaks on PH Response to COVID-19 Pandemic
DUQUE – Department of Health (DOH) Chief Francisco Duque III believes that PH has reached far in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than 200 countries and territories across the globe have recorded cases of COVID-19. This coronavirus disease has shaken several healthcare systems among the different nations.
The Philippines is one of the countries with confirmed cases of COVID-19. As of this writing, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 521,413 including 10,600 deaths and 475,765 recoveries.

Currently, the wearing of face mask is already a protocol when going outdoors and as well as the practice of social distancing. Classes are under blended learning for the safety of the students.
The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over. Everyday, there are still new cases of the disease and community quarantine measures are still up in the country.
Meanwhile, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III believes that PH has reached far in terms of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Health Chief cited that the country is one of those with low COVID-19 death rates in every 1 million population.
Furthermore, Duque stressed that PH has big national action plans with phase 1-3 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the report, the Health Secretary added that a phase 4 is about the vaccination program.
In the study of Lowly Institute, Philippines ranked 79th in terms of the COVID-19 response. Duque said that the institute’s study was incomplete. He admitted that the response to the situation is not perfect but stressed that the government has learned a lot.
