Is it true that MMFF 2020 earning is only at Php 31-million?
MMFF 2020 EARNING – Is it true that this year’s digital showing of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) only earned Php 31-million.
For the 46th Metro Manila Film Festival‘s Gabi ng Parangal, the “Fan Girl” film from Antoinette Jadaone bagged the most awards. As such, the awards include Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director.
For the past years, the movies from the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda were the top grossers such as Fantastica, Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad, The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, and among others. However, for this year, the total gross allegedly reached Php 31-million. Is this true?
Due to the pandemic, cinemas in the country closed down. However, this year’s film festival was pushed through which were shown digitally for the safety of everyone. If ever it is true that the total earning of the 10 official entries didn’t reach the Php 50M-mark, it must be really disappointing.
Meanwhile, in the history of MMFF, Vice Ganda’s Fantastica in 2018 is highest grossing to have earned Php 596-million reportedly. And the superstar’s entry for this year backed out for a reason.
The MMFF is an annual film festival in the Philippines where the official entries were shown traditionally on Christmas day until the first weekend of January in the following year. One of its highlights is the parade of floats to which this year happened digitally as well.
One of the official movies for this year, the Pakboys, was the first to have theatrical release. Also, the new MMDA chairman is the former Mandaluyong Mayor Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr.
