Walang Pasok – December 8, 2020 (Tuesday) – To Commemorate the Feast of Immaculate Conception

WALANG PASOK – Class and work suspended for December 8, 2020 (Tuesday) in observance of Immaculate Conception.

December 8 of every year is a special non-working holiday in observance of the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary. President Rodrigo Duterte declared the holiday through Republic Act 10966.

President Duterte signed the proclamation last December 28, 2017. The Catholic schools have been suspending the classes before the bill has been signed and changed into law. The bill has been filed by House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas in December 12, 2016.

Immaculate Concepcion

The Department of Labor and Employment said that employers could apply the “no work, no pay” policy. Companies could also pay their employees if they have a company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement granting the payment.

Employees who will report to work shall receive an additional 30 percent of its daily rater for the first eight hours of work. Overtime work requires an additional 30 percent of its hourly rate during the holiday.

If the special holiday falls on employee’s rest day, he/she is entitled to receive an additional 50 percent of its daily rate for the first eight hours of work. Workers who will work overtime must receive an additional 30 percent of its hourly rate during that day.
